Waterloo-Wellington TESL (TESL WW) is an affiliate of TESL Ontario. We are a non-profit, volunteer organization of educators and specialists who serve the professional needs of practitioners of English as a Second or Additional Language. We work at school boards, LINC, post-secondary institutions, and private organizations.
TESL WW has ESL providers in many communities, large and small, including Arthur, Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, Mount Forest, Orangeville, Stratford, and Waterloo. There are just under 200 TESL members teaching children and adults.

Fall 2018 Part-Time Job Opportunity: IELTS Examiners and Invigilators
George Brown College IELTS Test Centre Part-time IELTS Invigilator Part-time (up to 24 Hours/Week) Hourly Rate: $18 Locations: Brampton, Peterborough, Waterloo Apply by: September 15, 2018 POSITION SUMMARY: The international English language testing system (IELTS) is a test developed by the world’s leading experts in language assessment on four key English language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. It is designed to assess the language ability of people who aim to study and work in, immigrate to and integrate into an English-speaking environment. George Brown is looking for invigilators to work at its testing venues in Brampton, Peterborough and Waterloo. Duties and Responsibilities
To participate in training, learn and adhere to established policies and procedures at all times, especially related to the security of the test
To pick up, count and check test materials
To set up the test room and test that all equipment is functional
To distribute and administer test materials
To understand and read the invigilator script to test-takers
To collect and organize test materials and return them to the IELTS Administrator or Test Day Coordinator
Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must:
Have excellent English (written and spoken) communication abilities and be willing to read scripts in front of groups of test-takers.
Be a high school graduate.
Applicants must demonstrate:
An ability to deal directly with customers in a firm but pleasant manner
An ability to reassure and deal with young people
An ability to meet deadlines and keep to schedules
An ability to effectively handle large groups of people
An ability to work with a team.

Conduct and responsibility in performing their tasks
Schedule Testing will usually take place on Saturdays. Availability is to be determined. Invigilators will work 1-2 Saturdays per month. Applications E-mail: email@example.com with your resume. Volunteer Opportunity: Syrian Refugee Project
The Syrian Refugee Project was started by Jim Estill, CEO of Danby Appliances, to sponsor over 50 Syrian families to resettle in Guelph. Currently within the project, a strong focus is developing to strengthen the ESL learning of the families, as some are advancing quickly, but others are still struggling. They are looking for ESL teachers who may be interested in volunteering with the project.
Currently some of the potential opportunities are:
- Assessing the families for their ESL learning
- Working 1-on-1 with the families in their homes
- Female-focused classes and activities
- Teaching a 2-hour weekly class at Danby
- Developing tools and resources
